Hello Camp Family! We have some exciting things happening at King’s Camp. One of the rewarding gifts of King’s Camp is the ability to provide space and time for people to get away and experience the presence of God. This is a very important part of this ministry. August, September, and October our grounds are filled with young people and adults seeking the Lord in the way of retreats. We are grateful that God uses these grounds for His glory and purpose in this way. An exciting new addition to our grounds is our Chapel at the Oaks. This is a space that is presently being created. Imagine as you drive under the canoe and look to the right towards the lake that you see oak trees leading towards an outdoor amphitheater right on the banks of our beautiful lake with a cross silhouetted sunset. That vision is becoming a reality! Praise be to God! Why would we call it Chapel at the Oaks? A foundational scripture for this place before it was ever King’s Camp is Isaiah 61. We’ve written this entire chapter on the foundations of this chapel. It’s the foundation of Jesus’ ministry as he describes it in Luke 4:18-19. The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.
In Isaiah, the prophet continues by describing how the people of the Lord will fulfill His ministry to the world…They will be Oaks of Righteousness…for the splendor of His glory…they will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated. Isaiah 61:3 These are the kinds of things that have happened on these grounds for over 50 years and in God’s faithfulness and mercy continue to happen.
